How can it almost be the end of March already? I feel like it's been so busy, but judging from the single blog post in March, apparently not newsworthy. We wrapped up the winter quarter last week, and today is the last day of spring break.
March brought a little rain (not a whole lot; this is Southern California after all), the Broadway musical Wicked, a few trips to the beach, a much needed massage, a foray into making homemade pasta, and lots of baking.
My letter to the editor was published in the LA Times yesterday. It was in response to 'More Families Warm Up to Frozen Dinners,' an article that blames working mothers for increased sales in frozen food. Here's what I had to say about that:
The Times cites more working moms as the primary reason for an increase in frozen food sales. Know who I blame? Working dads.
The article says: "Women are working to balance out income from a partner who lost a job or suffered a pay cut."
So let me get this straight: Mom and dad come home from a long day at work, and mom has to make dinner, turning to frozen food to ease the chore. Why is dinner still mom's responsibility? Why doesn't dad have to help?
I'm pretty excited it got published, it was cool to see my name in print.
Yesterday, Drew and I made our first food truck visit with a trip to Seabirds Truck. Seabirds has an all vegan menu, and we had heard good things about the beer battered avocado tacos. I'm happy to report that they lived up to all their hype.
